Despite the challenges Hurricane Irma presented to all of us, the annual Dinghy Series still happened, and this Saturday was the final day filled with spectacular racing on the crystal-clear waters. Over 20 enthusiastic sailors were competing in four different classes during this last Dinghy Series event.
In addition to the normal prices, other certificates were also issued to mark the end of the competition season. ‘’Thanks to all our youth sailors, surrounding islands and volunteers this year was a success and this is a great way to show it!’’, said Reinier Calkhoven (Sailing instructor at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club). The special certificate of lifetime achievement went to Alec Scarabelli. ‘’I achieved a lifetime achievement’’, explained Alec with a huge smile.
To celebrate the end of season, the Sint Maarten Yacht Club held an End of Year Season Party for all the competitors, parents and members including Music, Domino’s pizza, Sint Maarten Yacht Club Bar&Restaurant snacks and a ‘make your own ice-cream sundae’ bar. Thank you!
Onto next year!
