Dock
At the beginning of the year construction started on the dock. The main priority was to reconnect the concrete dock back to shore. In order to do this, we first needed to 'reclaim' the land that got badly eroded. The retaining wall was built next that will help make it a more solid structure and will help prevent erosion. It will also provide a solid base to which we connect the dock. Once the retaining wall was in place, the concrete for the ramp was poured and finally the wooden section was constructed to make the connection complete.
The next steps will be to finalize the wooden dock sections on either side of the ramp for storage of the boats. This should be finished in time for the St Maarten Heineken Regatta.
Deck
The deck is a more complicated fix, due to the erosion and the supporting poles which broke off during the hurricane. This became a separate project as to not to delay rebuilding the dock. Jan van der Eynde donated a lot of his time to analyse the situation and make drawings for a proper solution. The plans have been finalized and the financial aspect is now being reviewed.

Awning
The frame for the awning has been repaired and we actually saw an opportunity to extend it with 5ft. The canvas should be put on early next week, making it waterproof again. The temporary solution worked well for shade, but not so much for rain... Next week the electrician will pay a visit and start rewiring the repaired area. We are waiting for new lights to come in and then the main repairs will have been done. Of course we still have to look at beautifying the restaurant as well.

Fleet
In Hurricane Irma we lost approximately 50% of our fleet, however massive steps have been made to replace this, and it seems as if we will come out stronger! Paul Miller found 2 RS Vision hulls in the UK and donations to make it feasible to purchase them. In addition the Andrew Simpson Foundation was able to support us with 2 second hand Lasers and parts for the Pico's. Currently we are looking at shipping the boats here and are in contact with several companies that may be interested in sponsoring the shipping. Another generous donation of one of our members allows us to look into purchasing Laser Pico's, which we hope to ship with the other boats.

Your support is the key to our success!
We are grateful to be able to announce that we have been making a lot of progress in the past months, which would not have been possible without your support, so thank you again for your generosity!
We do still have a long road ahead of us. We currently have raised over $43,000 of the overall costs of $305,000. Most of the costs are going into rebuilding our docks and we are hoping that the progress we are making shows our dedication. If you are looking to support us, we kindly ask you to consider a donation towards our rebuilding efforts. Click here to donate by credit card.
